STRIP IT DOWN. POLISH IT UP.
Powdercoat is one of the most durable finishes you can put on metal — which is exactly why removing it requires the right process. You can't sand through powdercoat on a wheel and expect the aluminum underneath to be in any shape to polish. It has to come off completely, cleanly, and without damaging the metal.
At Nautical Polishing in Burleson, TX, we use chemical stripping combined with mechanical methods to fully remove powdercoat down to bare aluminum or stainless steel. Once the metal is exposed, we move straight into our polishing process — you get a mirror finish without having to take your piece to multiple shops.

OUR WORK
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why can't you just polish over powdercoat?
Powdercoat is a thick polymer coating — you can't polish through it to the metal. To reach a true bare-metal mirror finish, the coating has to come off completely first.
How do you remove it?
We use chemical stripping combined with mechanical methods. The approach depends on the piece, its geometry, and the powdercoat type.
Will it damage the aluminum underneath?
No — that's the point of doing it properly. We use methods that remove the coating without pitting or scratching the metal, leaving a clean surface ready for polishing.
Do you do the polishing too?
Yes. Powdercoat removal is almost always paired with polishing to a mirror. We handle both steps as a single job.
